The renowned gospel musician Nathaniel Bassey has announced the “Kirikiri Edition,” a special edition of his well-known Hallelujah Challenge that would be held at the Kirikiri Medium Security Prison in Lagos on August 27, 2025.
Pastor Nath made this excicting announcement via Instagram, stating that the one-day praise and worship session with inmates is his birthday wish this year.
According to him, the event is inspired by a desire to bring hope, joy, and spiritual liberation to prisoners through intense worship.
“Later this month, 27th August 2025, I would be leading my brethren in the Kiri medium prison in a Hallelujah Challenge Praise and Worship special session. This is my heart’s desire for my birthday. We’ll praise, eat together and afterwards give out some scholarships,” – Nathaniel Bassey shared.
The event will feature vibrant praise and worship, distribution of food, and the awarding of scholarships to select inmates.
Bassey referenced Acts 16:25-26, where Paul and Silas praised God in prison, leading to a miraculous liberation. He believes this modern-day session will echo that spiritual breakthrough, ushering in “liberty of the spirit and massive harvests of souls.”
Due to security reasons, the event may not be streamed live, but the singer urged followers to join in spirit and prayer. He also reminded fans that the regular Hallelujah Challenge is scheduled to return in October 2025.
Many fans and fellow gospel ministers have praised Bassey for his audacious decision to bring worship outside of churches and into areas where people are in dire need of hope.
