On September 20, 2013, Anietie Bature released her first album, Revealed, a 12 track project which captures the passion and discovery of her earlier phase. On August 13, 2021 she dropped her second studio album, My Whole Life, which helped establish her as a force to be reckoned with in the African Gospel music scene. With a new single “Afo Amanam” out and her third studio album in the works, fast forward 13 years and what you have is a multifaceted lifestyle brand that has transcended being a Gospirational Singer and Songwriter to becoming a Sought-after Speaker, a Certified Relationship Coach and Published Author, HUSBAND MATERIAL. She recently engaged with our Editor-In-Chief, Ebenezer Ekpenyong to discuss her journey so far…
1. For the sake of people who may be reading about you for the first time, who is Anietie Bature?
Anietie Bature is a worship minister, songwriter, author, speaker, certified engineer, and relationship coach with a deep passion for seeing people encounter God in a real and transformative way. I am proudly Nigerian and Akwa Ibomite. My faith, culture, and life experiences all converge in my music and ministry. I’m married to Kingsley BATURE and it’s been 18 beautiful years. Beyond platforms and projects, I am simply a woman devoted to God, family, and purpose.
2. How did you first realize God was calling you to music ministry?
I would say the call unfolded progressively. What began in my childhood as a love for singing and performing became a consistent inner conviction that music was not just an expression for me — it was an assignment. I had written a few songs and at some point , I knew that the plan wasn’t for them to remain in that bookshelf forever. They had to be produced and shared with the world. Over time, doors opened, and platforms emerged for these songs to go out. I’m grateful to God for the inspiration and the avenues of expression.
3. You just released a brand new Ibibio song titled Afo Amanam, what is the meaning and story or testimony behind the single?
“Afo Amanam” is an Ibibio expression of gratitude and awe. It speaks to the faithfulness of God — the kind that carries you through difficult seasons. I wanted to honor my Ibibio heritage while testifying to God’s goodness in my journey.
It is a thanksgiving anthem — a declaration that after all God has done, praise is the only appropriate response. I lost my dad when I was 10. God became my heavenly and earthly Father, and He has never disappointed me. He sorted out big ticket items like keeping my mum and siblings together, providing accommodation for us, and school fees – including scholarships for my first degree and Masters. He delivered my kids from asthma, and helped me weather many storms. What more can I do than to offer my thanks to Him?
4. On August 27, 2013 you released your first album, Revealed, and on August 13, 2021 you dropped your second album, My Whole Life, which album do you think is more reflective of your current state of worship?
Both albums mark distinct spiritual seasons. Revealed captures the passion and discovery of an earlier phase. My Whole Life reflects deeper surrender and maturity.
At this stage, My Whole Life is more aligned with where I am spiritually — a posture of total surrender to my Maker.
5. With two albums under your belt, do you feel you have found your definitive “sound” or is it still evolving?
It is still evolving, intentionally so. While devotion to God remains the core, my sound continues to grow as I grow spiritually and creatively. I am more confident now in blending cultural expression, strong lyrical theology, and contemporary musical textures. I would say my foundation is sure, but my ceiling is fluid.
6. You’re currently working on a new album, tell us about it — when is it due for release and what should we expect?
The current project is deeply intimate. It carries themes of gratitude, surrender, adoration, and consecration. There will be a mix of different genres, but presented with excellence and modern production quality.
The release timeline is paced as there’s a release planned for each month of 2026, but listeners can expect a body of work that feels both personal and congregational — songs for the secret place and for corporate worship.
7. What is the central message or theme you hope to convey through your music?
Total devotion to God. My music is an invitation — to trust Him fully, to worship Him wholeheartedly, and to live surrendered. Beyond melody, I want each song to reinforce the truth that God is faithful and worthy of our entire lives, and that walking with Him is a wonderful experience.
8. How do you balance your musical passion with other obligations like being an author, speaker, relationship coach, family and work?
Structure and clarity of priority. I understand my assignments and steward them seasonally. Family remains foundational. Ministry flows from intimacy with God, not activity. Practically, I plan intentionally and protect my time. Spiritually, I stay anchored in purpose so that none of these roles compete — they complement each other. I also leverage my support systems a lot. Truly, no man is an island.
9. What is the best advice you have been given in your music career?
“Sing from your heart.” That simple counsel has shaped everything for me. It reminds me that ministry is not about vocal perfection or performance — it is about sincerity. When the heart is aligned with God, the song carries authenticity and power. Technique matters, excellence matters, but if the heart is absent, the impact is limited.
10. What is the message you want to leave with your audience after this interview?
Give God your whole life — not fragments. Let is all be worship to Him. Whatever He has placed in your hands — steward it with excellence and gratitude. And never be afraid to honor your roots while answering your global assignment.
