In tears while sharing this, Minister Dunsin Oyekan put in summary why he went to his wife’s funeral with his guitar, and also gives account of everything that happened there that didn’t made it to the public.
We were at the burial, the funeral. I made sure I went with my guitar. I can never forget the people who went with me. It wasn’t in Abuja that we did it. The people who were with me, they will never forget it. That morning before we went, we started. I just called everybody together. Not that I was telling them sing for me. I was singing, I was leading worship in the middle of that.
I was leading worship, praising God, praising God. As they said, oh, we should, I mean, I should, you know, pray my last rite and then pour the sun and all the dust to dust and that. Before I carried my guitar singing God, you are so good. I will never forget. God, You are so good. That was a song coming out of my spirit. God, you are so good. You are so good to me. People in that thing, I’m the one who went crying. But I was just singing God. was crying. My voice was shaking. God, you are so good.
And then I ended with Hallelujah. That’s what my song will be. Does it look like it? No. I had to must because I knew is either I go down or I go up. I knew I do not handle this pain well. Is either I go down or I go up and talk about somebody I love? Oh, I did. I did love her. We started from, from, from from 200 level, we did the same course. Oh, I did love her, Lord.
I made up my mind that is either I go down or I go up. And I chose the way, worship. I ran to God. After seeing that people’s advice and comfort was not entering my head, I called out, I said, oh, is this what people go through? Oh, I’m in for it. I will run to. There are songs I’ve not even released that happened in that season.
