Today God is still laying some emphasis on that teaching. Hence we have a similar Bible passage showing us the examples of what happened to God’s chosen people in the wilderness under the leadership of Moses.
We are called to be holy and follow the Lord with righteousness, diligence and commitment. Three key issues which the Lord wants you to debunk are idolatry, sexual immorality and complaining or murmuring. Yes you may not be involved in idol worship or in any secret cult or secret society; you may not be committing fornication or adultery but you complain and murmur a lot, ‘And do not grumble, as some of them did — and were killed by the destroying angel’ (1 Corinthians 10:10 NIV).
Today, people find various reasons not to work for God in the Church. It could either be that the Priest or Pastor is not getting it well, or the levies are much or someone whose face you didn’t like is in office and you don’t feel like supporting. Therefore, whatever he or she does attracts complaints.
Let us learn to be patient with God so that we can hear Him speak to us every moment of our lives as He spoke to the men of old. Let the examples of those who went before us teach us in our daily activities.
MEMORY VERSE: 1 Corinthians 10:11 “Now all these things happened to them as examples and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.”
PRAYER: Lord God, help me to be steadfast and not yield to murmuring temptations in Jesus Christ’s name.
