am not interested in England Job – Asene wenger

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed why he snubbed the offer to manage England, insisting he is not open to the move in future.

Wenger has debunked reports suggesting he is considering becoming the next coach of the Three Lions following the sack of Sam Allardyce. The Frenchman now appears to have ruled himself out of the running to fill the vacant position, claiming the English FA should appoint an Englishman.

He told Bein: ‘It’s very important [that it’s an Englishman],’

‘I’ve always said that England has a huge football passion and if tomorrow you have a game with France then it would be difficult [for me] not to sing the national anthem.

‘It’s logical. I thought they’d say I’m half English after being here for 20 years! It’s better to have an Englishman.

‘It would be difficult to manage another English club team. The national team is different. But my first priority has always been Arsenal.’

However, it is still uncertain whether the 66-year-old will remain at the Emirates when his current contract expires next May.
